Question

What is the difference between Rutherglen Muscat and Rutherglen Tokay?

Answer

Answer

Both of these wines are produced in the same manner, being a blend of different vintages produced over a number of years.
Rutherglen Muscat is produced from a red grape, Muscat à Petits Grains Rouge meaning Muscat with small berries, red in colour. It is commonly known as Brown Muscat in the Rutherglen region.
Rutherglen Tokay is produced from a white grape, Muscadelle. As a result Tokay is generally lighter in colour with its own distinctive and more subtle flavours compared to Muscat.!
