Food and Wine:
Renowned for capturing the flavours of North East Victoria, we are extremely excited to have leading local restaurant The King River Cafe (Milawa) onsite at Campbells over Tastes of Rutherglen. Satisfying visitor’s appetites with gourmet delights, sumptuous entree sized meals will be perfectly matched to our wines for your enjoyment.
Saturday – Campbells 2011 Riesling
BBQ Pork, prawn & coriander omelette roulade on a vibrant Vietnamese noodle slaw with a mint, lemongrass and ginger dressing.
Sunday – Campbells 2005 Bobbie Burns Shiraz
Deconstruction of the Wellington: Prime Angus fillet steak, Milawa free range chicken liver pate, confit of mushroom & shallot, buttery puff pastry with garden greens & red wine vinegar dressing.
In addition, guests will have the opportunity to sample special wine releases, enjoy private tastings with our winemaker, meet the Campbell family and graze on Milawa cheese platters, Gundowring ice-creams and espresso coffee, all in the lovely surrounds of the winery and gardens.
We are extremely excited about our line up of activities over the Tastes of Rutherglen weekends and visitors are in for a real treat with performances by The Snappers and Miss Kimba & The Gin Remedy.
This energetic fusion of jazz, shuffle, rhythm and blues is sure to bring the first weekend of celebrations to the next level. The Snappers have toured extensively throughout Europe, Scandinavia, Iceland and their hometown of Melbourne. Members have collectively played at The Big Day Out, The Wangaratta Jazz Festival, The Byron Bay Blues and Roots Festival. We’re ‘very excited their next stop is Rutherglen.
Miss Kimba & The Gin Remedy
Sizzling swing, raucous renditions and liberal sprinklings of wit and wry humour are what this spirited combo will bring to the second weekend. The members of this group have played on five continents from Kyrgyzstan to Denmark, Japan to Sri Lanka. Highlights include gigs at the Spiegeltent, Kobe Jazz Street, and a stint as house band at Gilded Balloon for the 2006 Edinburgh Festival.
