Viognier 2014 Limited Release

Tasting Notes

Medium straw with green hues.  Fresh and aromatic, ripe pear and stone fruit characters jump out of the glass. Spicy French oak sits quietly in the background supporting the fruit.  Leaner than the previous vintage with pear and just ripe apricot fruit balanced with fresh acidity. The palate is packed with flavour and has just enough texture from time on lees which will continue to develop with time in bottle.

Winemaking

Fermented in one year old French oak puncheons and left on lees for three months to further enhance mouthfeel. This wine spent a total of 6 months in oak.

Cellaring

With its incredible depth of fruit, and appealing mid palate texture, Viognier is a very versatile food wine. An ideal partner to Asian dishes and slow roast pork belly.  Cellaring potential of 2 - 3 years.

"A Rhône variety from the south of France finds a perfect home in Rutherglen, where our long, dry autumn enables it to fully ripen and produce its tantalizingly complex flavours." Colin Campbell
