Semillon 2012 Limited Release

Tasting Notes

Pale straw with a green hue.  This wine is still displaying the classic semillon characters from a slightly cooler year - lemon zest, citrus blossom, lanolin and a touch of dried straw.  Varietal citrus fruit and grassy characters up front with crisp acidity across the palate. Subtle barrel fermentation characters provide depth and texture with seamless oak integration supporting the elegant semillon fruit.

Winemaking

Barrel fermented in 3 and 4 year old American and French Puncheons the wine was then aged in the same barrels for 6 months before bottling.

Cellaring

A cooler vintage in 2012 enabled us to produce some excellent white wines with intensity of flavor and great depth of varietal fruit. Already showing supreme balance, we believe this wine will continue to develop in bottle for a further 5 to 7 years. A versatile food wine, try pairing with a lemon seafood risotto and a side of sugar snap peas.

"Rutherglen’s continental climate is ideal for the production of Semillon. We aim for a balanced style, with varietal grassy notes, ripe citrus fruits and balancing oak." Colin Campbell
