2006 Vintage Port Limited Release (750ml)

Tasting Notes

Deep red with a brick red hue just developing.  Fragrant spiced cherries, aniseed, clove and spearmint, with underlying dark berry and fruitcake characters.  Scented dark red fruits up-front, with musk and raspberry licorice characters through the mid palate. The palate is developing and softening with savoury spice and cigar box notes adding complexity, fine fruit tannins and integrated spirit add appealing texture and length.

Winemaking

Fermented together on skins for two days in a rotary fermenter before being pressed and fortified with a combination of low strength and normal spirit. Pressings were blended back to add character. Matured in American oak puncheons for 12 months prior to bottling.

Cellaring

A complex and multi-faceted wine, our 2006 Limited Release Vintage Port has undeniable appeal in its youth and as with all quality Vintage Ports from Rutherglen, will cellar very well over the long term. Drink 2017-2026.
