Our prestigious and iconic Barkly Durif 2013 has again received some fabulous reviews as of late, including words from the respected reviewers Mike Bennie and Mike Allen. Check out their reviews below:
Top drop of the month
Yes, the durif grape can produce big reds, but the best examples, like this, from one of the region’s most seasoned durif makers, combine power with cellarworthy poise and elegance.

93 Points
More approachability than usual for this sometimes brutish grape. The colour has a youthful tint; the rounded, harmonious bouquet has preserved-plum notes. A full-bodied, palate is fleshy with ample fruit sweetness, countered by drying tannins to finish. Cellar-worthy.

94 Points
Brash red of dark inky fruit, sweet and ripe plummy fruit, soft tannins and palate-staining feel. Flows well despite its heft, with a fresh belt of acidity, the compensation for durif’s bombastic fruit feel. Likely best with some dark chocolate or similar.
