DESCRIPTION

Tasting Notes

Dense, dark inky red. Black fruits, dark and brooding with supporting oak.

Wine Making

Select parcels of premium fruit were fermented on skins in closed fermenters for six days, then aged in 2-3 year old French barriques for 24 months.

Cellaring

The 2015 release is a great example of what we strive to achieve with this iconic Rutherglen variety. A rich and powerful wine that is structured, balanced and maintains a certain elegance. With this in mind the wine will reward cellaring for 10-12 years. As this wine has been stored under screwcap we recommend decanting on opening to allow the wine to fully open up. Enjoy as a young wine with a juicy fillet of beef, or as a mature wine with slow cooked lamb or beef dishes.

Technical

The Grapes: Durif from our Rutherglen vineyard.
Date Tasted: December 2018
Alcohol: 14.5%
T.A (g/l): 6.5g/l
pH: 3.6pH

Palate:

Rich full bodied black plum fruit. A powerful wine with a presence - grippy dry finish with good fruit and a smart clean finish.
