The Barkly Durif 2015 Tasting Note

Wine Making

The 2015 release is a great example of what we strive to achieve with this iconic Rutherglen variety. Select parcels of premium fruit were fermented on skins in closed fermenters for six days, then aged in 2-3 year old French barriques for 24 months.

Cellaring

A rich and powerful wine that is structured, balanced and maintains a certain elegance. With this in mind the wine will reward cellaring up to 2029. As this wine has been stored under screwcap we recommend decanting on opening to allow the wine to fully open up. Enjoy as a mature wine with slow cooked lamb or beef dishes.

Technical

The Grapes: Durif from our Rutherglen vineyard.
Date Tasted: March 2023
Alcohol: 14.5%
T.A (g/l): 6.5g/l
pH: 3.6pH

Dense, dark inky red. Black fruits, dark and brooding with supporting oak.

Palate:

Rich full bodied black plum fruit. A powerful wine with a presence - grippy dry finish with good fruit and a smart clean finish. The Barkly Durif 2015 Tasting Note
