Meet Mia!
1. What is your job title?
My job title at @campbellswines is Lab Technician and Cellar Hand, but I also help in other areas such as the Cellar Door.
2. Please briefly describe your role?
As a Lab Technician I’m responsible for conducting all tests and analysis related to our wines. For example, one of the key parts of maintaining our wine is achieving the correct sulphite content as this directly effects the longevity and shelf life. I also regularly test for things such as Baumé (sugar content) and pH.
Our wines, whether in barrel or tank, are routinely and meticulously analysed all throughout the production process, as a result there is never a shortage of laboratory work!
As Cellar Hand, I assist Matt our Cellar Manager with tasks such as cleaning tanks, transferring wine around the winery, and preparing wine for bottling. While at Cellar Door I assist with greeting customers and helping them select and try our extensive list of Campbells Wines.
3. How long have you worked at Campbells?
I have been at Campbell’s for nearly 8 months now, but it sure feels like much longer.
4. What do you love about your work?
I love being able to learn new and exciting things everyday. Whether it be in the lab, out in the vineyard or even in cellar door; I am always learning!
5. Favourite Campbells Wine and why?
My favourite Campbells wine would have to be hands down, Bobbie Burns Shiraz! My grandfather absolutely adored this wine, and it must have rubbed off on me. I believe it was even the first red wine that I had ever tried.
6. Hobbies outside of work?
My hobbies outside of work include training my young horse, fishing and camping.
