Campbells is now proudly owned by 5th generation sisters Jane and Julie Campbell, daughters of Colin and Prue. Jane is the Managing Director and oversees all elements of the Campbells brand. Julie is the winemaker and custodian of the iconic Campbells style.
“Wine is in our blood; we’ve grown up with it. We live it, breathe it and love it.”
Together they have a shared vision to champion the region by leading the way with outstanding wines, innovative and progressive practices and an authentic winery experience.
They have added to the traditional Rutherglen treasures of Shiraz and Durif with Tempranillo, Roussanne and Viognier and say there is more to come!
Of course the soul of Campbells and a constant reminder of the gifts of generations past are their sleeping giants which are stored in the heart of the cellars – their world famous and unique Muscats and Topaques of Rutherglen.
“Wine is in our blood; we’ve grown up with it.
We live it, breathe it and love it.”
Fourth generation Campbell brothers, Colin (winemaker) and Malcolm (viticulturist), worked tirelessly alongside one another to leave a legacy of regionally distinctive, high quality wines renowned the world over. Their tenacity, integrity and commitment to the wine industry earned both brothers an Order of Australian medal (OAM), as well as countless other accolades over the years.
Colin was instrumental in the betterment of the wine industry, both as an innovative winemaker and through his work with Winemakers of Rutherglen and the Australian Grape and Wine Inc (formerly Winemakers Federation of Australia). He offered knowledge, counsel & support to the Fifth generation Campbells, and his brother Malc until his passing in May, 2019.
Jane Campbell
Jane CampbellManaging Director Jane has the very versatile role of looking after Campbells brand and the Campbells site overall. After studying at university and travelling Jane returned to the winery full time in 2011. After taking on the role of Managing Director in 2019, Jane thoroughly enjoys calling the winery and surrounding Bobbie Burns property her home and relishes the chance to help make Campbells and Rutherglen a must visit destination. With its close proximity to the ski fields and with city centres such as Albury, Melbourne and Sydney an easy trip from town, it is a fabulous place to live – and a great place for people to spend time discovering! Jane’s personal life is kept very busy with family, farming and Thoroughbreds along with a large garden! Chardonnay is a firm favourite followed very closely by Marsanne Viognier, Sixties Block and Bobbie Burns Shiraz. |
Jules Campbell
Jules Campbell(aka Jules Ashmead) Jules has the greatest role of spending intense moments at key times throughout the year tasting and blending the wines with the winemaking team. Helping to make sure that the Campbell wine style is in check and that the winemaking team continue to do the best they can. Jules’ winemaking passion all began with the bottling line and lab work she did at Campbells – as it did for Susie and Jane too! That was followed with vintage work around the world and then some more long term winemaking roles in France and then back in the Barossa. Jules’ personal life is overrun with three very active little men… She loves her garden and the great outdoors when she has a spare moment. She also loves to run (not that she is trying to escape anything!). |
Ian Diver
Ian DiverWinery Operations Manager After studying wine science at CSU, I joined Campbells in 2006 as part of a tree change from Sydney with my young family. Being mentored by Colin Campbell with roles as cellarhand, lab technician, assistant winemaker and now Winery Operations Manager has instilled in me the long term vision required to create and maintain the fortified Muscat and Topaque soleras. It’s also a privilege to work with our best Shiraz blocks each vintage to make our flagship Bobbie Burns Shiraz to such a consistent style. Favourite wines; the MVR, the Sixties Block and the Isabella Topaque. When not tasting and blending wines, you’ll find me walking the Murray River trails with Matilda, my trusty blue heeler, or (slowly) chasing a soccer ball around the pitch. |
Bernard Morey
Bernard MoreyVineyard Manager I grew up locally in Beechworth. I’m a family man we love the outdoors and camping off grid. My favourite Campbells wine, I would say I sit on the fence between the Classic Muscat and the Sixties Block. Depending on the occasion. What I love about working at Campbells is you can definitely tell it is still family owned and operated. Which makes the staff all a little bit closer. |
David Black
David BlackWarehouse & Logistic Manager After studying, I worked and lived in a variety of places, from the big smoke to outback Western Australia. In 2012, the time felt right to move back to my hometown of Rutherglen, the perfect place to start a family. In my downtime I enjoy taking the family on trips around our beautiful part of the world (lunch and cheeky glass of wine often involved). My favourite wine is the Sixties Block for its unique story but I’m also rather partial to a Trebbiano, MVR and of course the star of the show – Bobbie Burns. |
Kerryn Dinsdale
Kerryn DinsdaleFinance & Accounts Officer Originally from the Yarra Valley, I started working for Campbells Wines in 2012 after moving to the area. I love the variety of work that Campbells provides which includes working events, export, product management, accounts and administration, I learn something new every day. After hours I enjoy supporting my son’s local hockey team, going to the gym and walking. |
Sue Collier
Sue CollierCellar Club Manager I grew up locally in Chiltern and went to High School in Rutherglen. I brought a house in Rutherglen and worked at Uncle Toby’s for 11 years before starting a family. I started working at Campbells in 2011 assisting in the accounts department and moved into Cellar Club shortly after. What I love most about working at Campbells are the people and the variety of work. Working in the office one day and in Canberra hosting a dinner the next! We have the most loyal Cellar Club members here at Campbells and they are an absolute pleasure to look after! |
Charl De Mink
Charl De MinkLicensed Trade Manager When I’m not playing golf, enjoying red wine and searching for my next favourite restaurant, café, wine bar I’m generally travelling North East Victoria visiting customers and representing Campbells wines as Licensed Trade Manager. I have been with Campbells wines since 2003. My first experience at the winery was working the Winery Walkabout weekend which then led to many years pouring, tasting, and talking all things wine with visitors to our Cellar door. There have been amazing opportunities to learn along the way and to get hands on in the vineyard and winery with the dedicated Campbells team. Within the Campbells portfolio, my favourites include the Riesling, Trebbiano, Shiraz Durif, Barkly Durif and of course the ever-reliable Bobbie Burns Shiraz. When not out travelling or at my desk, you can usually find me at Cellar Door tasting new back vintage releases. Quality control is a tough job, but someone has to do it! Having been raised and still living in Wangaratta, I can’t think of a better place than North East Victoria, if great golfing, amazing historic wineries, awesome food, snowfields at your doorstep, the Murray river and magical weather is your thing of course. |
Izaac Cameron
Izaac CameronMaintenance Manager I grew up locally in Rutherglen as well as going to school here, Kindergarten to Year 12 . After high school I completed an apprenticeship as a Boilermaker in Wodonga. After years working away in places like Bathurst, Adelaide, Geelong and Bendigo in various mines and food manufacturing facilities it was time to settle down and spend some more time at home with my family. Thats how I found my way to Campbells. In my spare time you will find either on a hockey field, on the family farm or on an outing with my family exploring what our great region has to offer. My favourite Campbells Wines would have to be a tie between our Barkly Durif and our Grand Rutherglen Muscat. Both best enjoyed with friends and family around a fire in winter. |
Nick Gardner
Nick GardnerAssistant Winemaker I’ve always been a chef at heart, with a deep love for food that naturally grew into a passion for wine. In 2018, after spending years behind the stove working for others, my wife Stevie and I decided it was time to create something new. We took the plunge and opened our own business—a deli, restaurant, and cooking school in the South Coast NSW. It was an incredible 8-year journey, but eventually, we felt it was time for a change. We sold our beloved business, and I shifted my focus to winemaking. After studying winemaking for three years and crafting a vintage of my own house wine, Stevie and I decided to move to NE Victoria, closer to family, the countryside, and the heart of wine country. I was fortunate to land the role of Assistant Winemaker at Campbells Wines. My love for wine—its creativity, its science—has only grown since. What drew me to Campbells was its rich heritage and their dedication to producing exceptional wines, generation after generation. The quality of the whites here, especially in a region famous for its reds, has truly amazed me. I’m particularly excited about working with the LR Chardonnay and MVR and Riesling—wines that age beautifully. Other standout wines at Campbells include the Sixties Block, the Light Dry Red, Cabernets, and of course, the iconic Muscats. When I’m not at the winery, you can find me outdoors—whether it’s mountain biking, fly fishing, or heading up to the snow. But these days, I’m just as happy spending time at home with Stevie, our son, and our new baby daughter. |
