Wine is a patient pursuit and for many we never truly get to appreciate the greatness of wines as they move into their middle years, instead always drinking on release.
The fact that our wines mature so well is a testament to their structure and balance which begins with good fruit flavour.
A unique feature of Campbells Wines is our practice of retaining stocks of Back Vintage Wines for the specific purpose of making these wines available at the peak of their development.
Selected back vintage wines are released first to our Cellar Club members and there is a selection of these rare wines available online and at Cellar Door.
Once every two years we convene a panel at the winery to taste and critically assess all available wines from the past 20 years. This process enables us to determine appropriate release dates for our Back Vintage wines and also to assist our customers with their cellaring decisions.
It is also a most satisfying time especially for our vineyard and winemaking teams to see how well our wines age.
All of the information gathered from the tasting is assembled in our Back Vintage Wine Guide. It also has useful information and guidelines from transporting and storing wine to serving temperatures and food selection.
