It is with heavy hearts that we advise of the passing of our great leader and legend of the Australian wine industry Colin Campbell OAM, Director of Campbells Wines.
Colin had been unwell for some time however carried on courageously as he always did. In the end after a short battle with cancer he passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by close family on Friday 10th May.
Colin was Director and Winemaker at Campbells Wines for almost 50 years. Over these years he crafted many of our much loved wines. Namely Bobbie Burns Shiraz, The Barkly Durif, The Brothers Shiraz, The Sixties Block and of course he was the wine custodian of Campbells World Class Muscat and Topaque wines.
Colin was an inspirational leader who lived and breathed winemaking and wine. He worked tirelessly for the betterment of the wine industry, both as an innovative winemaker and through his work with Winemakers of Rutherglen and the Australian Grape and Wine Inc (formerly Winemakers Federation of Australia).
Fortunately Colin has left the winery in good hands with his daughters Jane, Susie and Jules to work alongside Colin’s brother and fellow director Malcolm Campbell OAM. Together, with the support of the amazing Campbells team, we will honour Colin by continuing with his vision for the future of Campbells Wines.
The Campbell family and Campbells team.
