Having just finished vintage 2022 with all the new wines tucked safely away in barrels or tank, it gives us time to reflect on the season just past and compare the quality of these young wines to other recent vintages. La Nina rains kept us on our toes throughout a cool wet summer resulting in very healthy vineyards and a later start to vintage. This has allowed a fuller flavour profile to develop, and our Chardonnay should be a little belter after 6 more months in oak. With a dozen parcels of Shiraz fruit, we have tried a few different winemaking techniques to accentuate their individual characteristics, which will then combine to make a mouth filling Bobbie Burns to match our 52 year traditions. Our Muscats were picked early and fresh to liven up the Rutherglen classification solera and
the impact of this will last over several years of production.  We were fortunate to assemble a small team of vineyard and winery vintage staff who learnt
quickly, got stuck in, had fun, and certainly enjoyed the end results.  With vintage having come to a close and the cooler weather settling in, it’s time for us to
take a breather before we begin to prepare the vineyard for the coming season – see pages 4 and 5 for an insight into the goings on above and below the ground.
